The Dehumidifier Diaries with Justin: a calm home where comfort takes care of itself

"It's solved a problem that I now don't have to think about anymore."

For this episode of The Dehumidifier Diaries, we sat down with Justin to see how he keeps his home feeling calm and comfortable all year round, without having to think about it.

Justin describes his home as "a peaceful sanctuary that I come back to after a long day's work." His style is neutral and muted, with "pops of colour here and there, or unexpected pieces", so anything he brings in has to do its job without getting in the way.

From single glazed kitchen windows to a walk-in wardrobe and a winter heating routine, here's what Justin shared, and the Pro Breeze products he relies on at home.

Single glazing, without the condensation

"Another thing I absolutely love it for is it's excellent for drying washing. I find that as soon as I put it on, I can dry washing within three hours."

Justin's kitchen has single glazed windows. They suit the character of the home, but they come with a familiar downside: condensation.

Because I have single glazed windows in the kitchen, the OmniDry dehumidifier is excellent for taking the condensation out of the room.

What he values most is that the problem has simply gone away.

Laundry that dries quickly

"It just takes all the moisture out of the room without me having to worry about it."

The same dehumidifier does a second job in Justin's home: drying washing indoors.

Wet clothes release moisture into the air as they dry. A dehumidifier pulls it back out, and the OmniDry 20L's Laundry Drying Mode is built for exactly this.

OmniDry 20L Quiet Low Energy Dehumidifier with Laundry Mode and Smart App Control

• Ultra quiet at <36 dBA, our quietest compressor dehumidifier
• Removes up to 20 litres of moisture a day, for rooms up to 322 sqft / 30 m2
• Laundry Drying Mode, and costs as little as 5p an hour to run

Laundry that dries quickly

"Another thing I absolutely love it for is it's excellent for drying washing. I find that as soon as I put it on, I can dry washing within three hours."

In practice, that means washing doesn’t hang around the house for days. Justin puts the dehumidifier on, and within about three hours his laundry is dry.

The OmniDry 20L removes up to 20 litres of moisture a day, and its Laundry Drying Mode is made for exactly this job. It runs at under 36 dBA and costs as little as 5p an hour, so it can work away quietly in the background while he gets on with his day.

A walk-in wardrobe that stays fresh

"It just takes all the moisture out of the room without me having to worry about it."

When Justin built his walk-in wardrobe, he had to close off a window to make it work. That left him with a worry many renovators will recognise.

One of the things I was really worried about when I built the walk-in wardrobe and closed the window off was that it was going to cause damp and condensation in the room.

His answer is the Osmo® Moisture Absorber, which sits in the wardrobe and works quietly in the background.

Enclosed spaces with little airflow are where moisture lingers. Osmo® needs no plug and makes no noise, so it can sit anywhere, and when the tablet is used up you replace the tablet, not the device.

Osmo® 1.3L Moisture Absorber with 700g Tablet - Pebble

• Up to 100 days of moisture absorption per tablet
• Plug-free and silent, with no electricity needed
• Refillable design: replace the tablet, not the device

Winter warmth, only where it's needed

"In the winter, I don't necessarily like keeping all the radiators on."

When the weather turns colder, Justin prefers not to heat the whole house at once. Instead, he warms the room he's actually using with a ThermaCube™ heater, choosing the size to suit the space.

The ThermaCube heater is brilliant for that because it comes in different sizes. The smallest size is great for a smaller room, whereas the ThermaCube Plus, I can use it in my dining room or in the living room and it will distribute and heat the rooms up evenly.

Start with the room, then pick the size that suits it. The compact ThermaCube™ Mini suits personal warmth in smaller spaces, while the ThermaCube™ Plus has the most heating power in the range for larger living areas. Both oscillate to spread warm air evenly.

ThermaCube™ Mini 1500W Ceramic Fan Heater - Black

• Compact at just 26cm tall, so it tucks under a desk or into a corner
• 60° oscillation distributes warm air evenly around the room
• Digital thermostat (15-35°C) and ECO Mode to hold your ideal temperature

In a home designed to be a sanctuary, the best products are the ones you stop noticing.

"One of the things I really love about Pro Breeze products is they solve a problem. They're not intrusive in the house in any way, and they have just become part of my everyday life."

That's what we aim for at Pro Breeze: products that deal with a real, everyday problem, whether that's condensation, slow-drying washing, a windowless wardrobe or a chilly room, then sit quietly in the background while you enjoy your home.

That's true comfort that takes care of itself.
